Design Concept
The concept for this project is to create a design that is sustainable and functional. Sustainable design compels us to address social, economic and environmental considerations. It also enhances quality of life; improve energy efficiency while ensuring thermal comfort.
My goal is to enhance the well being of my client using the principles of Feng Shui. Feng Shui, the Chinese art of
placement explores the connection between person and place. This information system correlates health, wealth,
happiness and prosperity with how we design, decorate and arrange our homes and work places. Feng Shui creates a shift in the flow of energy.
The flow is affected by many things: movement, color, odors, shapes, symbols, textures, light, sound and intent. Intent is the primary component of Feng Shui because energy follows intent. This vital energy that surrounds us is referred as “Chi.” Chi is always striking a balance between Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang are the complimentary opposites, neither good or bad, right or wrong.
To me sustainable design and Feng Shui are related because both eectively use solutions that encourage our coexistence with nature.
